Make A Donation – Directly Support the Rt. 80 / Buck Creek Rd Community in Marion, North Carolina USA
On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Hurricane Helene struck the Southeastern United States as a Category 4 storm bringing deadly flooding, winds and mudslides to thousands of communities – including our beloved Rt. 80/Buck Creek Rd community in Marion, North Carolina.
There are countless multi-generational families that call Rt. 80/Buck Creek home. Sunnyvale Baptist Church was severely damaged along with most of the campgrounds and RV parks, many of which were permanent residences. All but a few homes have been wiped out by flash floods and mudslides, one that destroyed and washed away homes across the street from our property. By sheer luck, other than some downed trees and no power, our property was not severely impacted.
For those of you familiar with the area, or who have cycled the road (1x or many times), the community is largely gone, and many families need help.
We are encouraging the global endurance sports community, the regional cycling and running communities, and anyone who is capable, to help support these impacted families directly.
All donations will go directly to support this community and its families. Resources and supplies will include many of the following items:
- Bottled water
- Electrolyte drinks
- Non-perishable food
- Baby supplies, including bottles, formula, baby food, and diapers
- Extra clothing
- Blankets
- Sleeping bags
- Toilet paper
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Soap
- Feminine items
- Pet food
- Heavy duty work gloves
Thank you for your support no matter how large or small.
