Maia Watson

Maia Watson, a former varsity track and cross-country athlete at McGill University, where she earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies with First Class Honours. She conducted her research as part of the McGill African Field Study Semester, focusing on perceptions of the climate change in agricultural livelihoods in Kenya and Tanzania.

After four years of varsity running, she wanted a new challenge. She raced the Triathlon Age Group Sprint World Championships in 2022, placing 8th in the 20-24 division, and was the first Canadian to cross the line. She caught the ’triathlon bug’ and is presently an elite short–course triathlete, with multiple Olympic distance wins to her name. She is striving towards being a professional long course triathlete.

When she is not training, she is working as an Executive Assistant for National Sales at VinFast Canada. She is passionate about de-carbonizing the economy for a greener, healthier future.

Maia lives in Montreal, Quebec.
